Damona Lodges: the glamping experience just a stone’s throw from the Vendée beaches
In the heart of Vendée, nestled in the private estate of La Chausserie, our unique lodges open the doors to a 123-acre natural park kept away from the world—an incomparable glamping experience just a short distance from Les Sables-d’Olonne. Between oak and willow forests, Natura 2000 classified marshes, ponds, and the Auzance river, here, nature reclaims all its rights.
But wait, do you know what glamping is? The word is a contraction of glamour and camping. It refers to outdoor accommodation solutions that sacrifice neither elegance nor standard amenities (quality bedding, private bathrooms, etc.). This is the approach we follow.
Welcome to Damona Lodges, your estate for a unique stay in Vendée.
Discreet luxury
in the heart of nature
The private estate of La Chausserie, a family story
Love at first sight
for the parents
In 1995, my parents acquired the La Chausserie estate, a 50-hectare park located in the town of Vairé in Vendée. We renovated the buildings, replanted vegetation, and created diverse spaces: forest, marshes, reed beds, and ponds.
“La Chausserie is a place outside of time, where we gather to recharge and share friendly moments. With family and friends, we live powerful experiences in contact with nature,” says Caroline.
A passion passed down
to their children
Aware of the estate’s unique character, we decided to give it a new life by opening it to the public. Damona Lodges was born from my knowledge of the Vendée tourism sector and the technical skills of my husband, Alexandre.
Together, and along with our children, we want to offer high-quality accommodation within an exceptional environment.
Wooden lodges in
an authentic setting
In the heart of this protected universe where deer, foxes, and squirrels roam free, you’ll find our wooden lodge cabins. With a rustic or bohemian style, these fully equipped lodges for rent in Vendée blend into the park’s aesthetic.
Some of our lodges are equipped with a private spa installed on the terrace, perfect for a romantic weekend in Vendée, a relaxing family stay, or a unique night with a private jacuzzi in Vendée. These accommodations feature 1 or 2 bedrooms, and one of them is adapted for people with reduced mobility.
Damona, the guardian of our natural park in Vendée
The Gallic divinity of springs and rivers.
As you will see during your visit, the park is bordered by the Auzance river, which rises in Sainte-Flaive-des-Loups and flows into the Atlantic Ocean at Havre de la Gachère. It crosses the most beautiful Vendée landscapes: the Pays des Achards, the Olonne marshes, and the village of La Gachère in Brem-sur-Mer.
Inspired by this neighbor, we chose the name Damona for our business, the Celtic goddess of rivers and streams. We have crowned her with antlers as a tribute to the deer you might encounter during your walks.
A symbol of the relationship between humans and non-humans.
This protective figure, which the Gauls associated with healing, symbolizes for us the links between humans and other living beings.
Discover the estate: immersion in nature near Les Sables-d’Olonne
The marsh is Natura 2000 classified, and we are committed to protecting the estate’s flora and fauna. But this isn’t about banning humans from the site—quite the opposite!
We are convinced that ecosystem protection is most effective when humans become aware of their place within the living world.
This is what we want to offer our visitors: a moment suspended in time, interacting with the animals and plants so often absent from cities.
We want to offer you the best possible welcome and services so you can focus on discovering the park, while taking care of yourself for a weekend or your vacation, notably thanks to our accommodations with private jacuzzis in Vendée.
