FAQ – Unique Weekend in Vendée
What makes a stay at Damona Lodges truly “unique”?
Here, no rows of mobile homes or traditional campgrounds. You stay in a private wooden lodge at the heart of a 50-hectare natural estate, surrounded by oak forests, a Natura 2000 classified marsh, and ponds. Roe deer, fallow deer, and foxes roam freely around you. It’s this wild and preserved setting, combined with the premium comfort of the lodges, that creates the unique Damona experience.
Is the estate suitable for families with children?
Absolutely. The 2-bedroom lodges accommodate up to 5 people, and the estate offers many outdoor activities accessible to all: marked trails for walking or biking, fishing by the ponds, wildlife observation… The youngest will also love meeting the estate’s fallow deer, true mascots of La Chausserie. Books, outdoor games, and board games can be borrowed free of charge at reception.
Can you observe wild animals on the estate?
Yes, and it’s one of the great surprises of the stay. Roe deer, fallow deer, foxes, squirrels, and grey herons roam freely across the estate’s 50 hectares. The best sightings happen at dawn or dusk, from the marked trails or from your private terrace.
What activities can you do on-site and nearby?
On the estate: hiking and mountain biking on the trails, fishing in the ponds, wildlife observation. Nearby: Vendée beaches 5 km away, canoeing at Lac du Jaunay, Vendée Miniature 10 minutes away, Puy du Fou less than an hour away, excursions to Île d’Yeu or Noirmoutier. Reception can provide you with a guide to local recommendations upon arrival.
Are pets allowed?
No, pets are not allowed on the estate or in the lodges. This policy helps preserve the estate’s wildlife and maintain tranquility for all guests.
